
Sylvie Straus-Figueroa
Sylvie Straus-Figueroa was born and raised in New York City and is a proud graduate of the NYC Public School system. She has a degree in Sociology, and a Certificate in African American Studies, from the University of Maryland, College Park. Sylvie spent several years after college as an educator in NYC public schools and working with the International Youth Leadership Institute, leading student groups to countries in Africa and Latin America. She graduated from Brooklyn Law School in 2004, has served as counsel for the same firm for over 20 years, and is now Managing Partner of Rothberg, Straus & Contrubis, LLP. Her firm provides a vast array of legal services and was instrumental in the legal formation of the ABGMF as well as obtaining the organization’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Sylvie is committed to the mission of the ABGMF and an enthusiastic member of its Board of Directors.
